Who runs the Muster. Who owns which trademarks. How Muster Wall submissions work. Where the waiver lives. Nothing hidden.
Independent Event
The EDC Remembrance Muster is organized independently by the Esprit de Corps Foundation, a Chicago-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 33-3012209). The Muster is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or officially connected to any other organization unless explicitly named as a partner, sponsor, or presenter on our official communications.
The 'Murph' Hero WOD Trademark
The 'Murph' workout name, 'The Murph Challenge,' and related marks are the property of their respective trademark holders, including the LT. Michael P. Murphy USN Memorial Scholarship Foundation. When we reference the 'Murph' Hero WOD, we do so under nominative fair use — naming a workout that participants may choose to perform. The Esprit de Corps Foundation makes no claim of ownership, affiliation, or endorsement. To learn more about or donate directly to the LT. Michael P. Murphy USN Memorial Scholarship Foundation, visit themurphchallenge.com.
One of Many Workouts
The 'Murph' Hero WOD is one of many activities available at the Muster. The event is a broader Memorial Day gathering built around fitness, camaraderie, health, and connection. No single workout is required to participate — attendees may join for community activities, wellness programming, food, music, remembrance, or the Muster Wall without completing any workout at all.
The Muster Wall — Submission Terms
The Muster Wall is a public tribute honoring United States service members who died in service. Anyone may submit a tribute by providing the service member's name, rank, and branch — and by confirming they have the right to share the information and any accompanying photo. By submitting, the submitter grants the Esprit de Corps Foundation a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to display the tribute on the Muster Wall and in related marketing materials honoring the fallen. Submissions may be edited, moved, hidden, or removed at the Foundation's discretion at any time, for any reason, without notice.
Photo Policy
Photos submitted to the Muster Wall are displayed publicly on this website. We make reasonable efforts to prevent casual downloading (right-click and drag are disabled where technically possible), but no protection is complete — screenshots and other capture methods remain available to any visitor. Do not submit a photo you are not comfortable being seen and potentially copied online. Do not submit photos you do not own or have permission to share. If you would like a photo you submitted removed, contact info@espritdcf.org and we will take it down promptly.
Merchandise
Any merchandise sold in connection with the Muster is branded around the Esprit de Corps Foundation and The EDC Remembrance Muster. We do not produce apparel or goods bearing the trademarked 'Murph' or 'The Murph Challenge' marks. Merchandise proceeds fund the Foundation's mission.
Event Waiver & Assumption of Risk
All Muster attendees who participate in any physical activity — including but not limited to the 'Murph' Hero WOD, group training, fitness classes, and the Honor Walk — will be asked to review and sign the event waiver. The waiver covers assumption of risk, medical acknowledgment, photo release, and other standard event protections.
