This page consolidates the terms, privacy, and trademark disclosures that apply to The EDC Remembrance Muster and its subpages under /events/remembrance-muster. The Foundation's site-wide Terms of Service and Privacy Policy also apply where not superseded by anything on this page. The event waiver is a separate document that every physical-activity participant must review and sign.
The EDC Remembrance Muster is organized independently by the Esprit de Corps Foundation, a Chicago-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 33-3012209). The Muster is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or officially connected to any other organization unless explicitly named as a partner, sponsor, or presenter on our official communications.
The Muster is an 18-and-over athlete event. Attendees under 18 may join the Festival grounds only under the direct supervision of a parent or legal guardian and may not participate in the Muster Hero WOD or any high-intensity heat. The Beer Garden is a separately posted 21-and-over area. Government-issued photo ID is required to check in for any athlete registration and to enter the Beer Garden.
All Muster registrations and ticket sales are final, non-refundable, and non-transferable except as required by applicable law. The Foundation reserves the right to modify, postpone, or cancel the event or any portion of it (including individual heats, ceremonies, vendors, or activities) for any reason, including weather, safety, venue availability, public-health guidance, or force majeure. In the event of modification, postponement, or cancellation, refunds are at the Foundation's sole discretion and are not guaranteed. Class times, instructors, sponsors, vendors, and location are subject to change.
Attendance and participation in the Muster is voluntary and carries inherent risk of injury, illness, permanent disability, and death — including risks arising from physical exertion, contact with other participants, equipment failure, weather, communicable illness, and the negligence of the Foundation or any other party. By attending, every participant assumes those risks knowingly and freely. The complete assumption-of-risk language is set out in the event waiver, which every physical-activity participant must sign.
The Muster Hero WOD is the Foundation's own tribute-format workout, designed and programmed independently by the Foundation to honor every fallen service member through shared physical challenge. It draws on the broader Hero WOD tradition that has honored fallen warriors for years. Any workout-name trademarks are the property of their respective holders; the Foundation makes no claim of ownership, affiliation, endorsement, or sponsorship with any other workout, event, or organization. The Hero WOD is one of many activities at the Muster — attendees may join for community activities, mind-body programming, food, music, remembrance, or the Muster Wall without completing any workout at all.
The Muster Wall is a public tribute honoring United States service members who died in service. Anyone may submit a tribute by providing the service member's name, rank, and branch — and by confirming they have the right to share the information and any accompanying photo. By submitting, the submitter grants the Esprit de Corps Foundation a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to display the tribute on the Muster Wall and in related materials honoring the fallen. Submissions may be edited, moved, hidden, or removed at the Foundation's discretion at any time, for any reason, without notice.
By attending the Muster, every attendee grants the Foundation and its designees the perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, irrevocable right to photograph, film, record, and use their name, likeness, voice, and image in any medium — including website, social media, print, and promotional materials — for any lawful purpose related to the Foundation's mission. Attendees who prefer not to appear in identifiable footage may notify a Foundation representative on-site; reasonable effort will be made to accommodate. Photos submitted to the Muster Wall are displayed publicly; do not submit content you are not comfortable being seen online. Attendees may not conduct commercial photography or video without prior written consent from the Foundation.
The Muster microsite and its subpages collect the following at registration, waiver signing, Muster Wall submission, and interest forms: name, email, phone, mailing address (optional), age attestation, emergency contact (where required), event-preference selections, and any freeform message you provide. Aggregate usage data (IP address, browser type, page views, referral source) is logged for site administration and security but is not tied to your identity for marketing purposes.
We use event-related data to (1) fulfill your registration, waiver, or submission, (2) send event-specific communications (reminders, day-of logistics, changes, and results), (3) share the aggregate impact of the Muster with donors and partners, and (4) offer future Foundation events, updates, or opportunities you may find relevant. We do not sell your data. We do not share personally identifiable information with third parties except: (a) service providers who help us operate the event (e.g. registration platform, email delivery, timing partners) under confidentiality obligations, (b) sponsors and partners only in aggregate or anonymized form, (c) as required by law or valid legal process.
Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. To have your Muster-related data updated, restricted, or deleted, email info@espritdcf.org with the request and the email you registered with. Waiver records and financial records may be retained after deletion of marketing data where required by law, insurance policy, or the Foundation's records-retention practice.
By attending, every participant agrees to follow all posted event rules and the reasonable direction of Foundation staff, volunteers, and venue personnel. Personal alcohol or controlled substances are prohibited on Festival grounds; the Beer Garden serves under standard Illinois licensure to attendees 21+. Any behavior deemed harassing, threatening, discriminatory, unsafe, or disruptive — as judged by Foundation staff in their sole discretion — is grounds for immediate removal without refund. Attendees are responsible for their own property; the Foundation is not liable for lost, stolen, or damaged personal items.
Merchandise sold in connection with the Muster is branded around the Esprit de Corps Foundation and The EDC Remembrance Muster; merchandise proceeds fund the Foundation's mission. The Foundation does not produce apparel or goods bearing trademarks it does not own. Unauthorized commercial promotion, sale, or distribution of materials at the event is prohibited without prior written consent.
This page, the event waiver, and every interaction with the Muster are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to the Muster will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois. Any claim must be filed within one (1) year after the date the claim arose or be permanently barred.
The Foundation may update this page at any time. Material changes will be posted here with a revised "Last updated" date at the bottom. Continued attendance or participation in the Muster after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
