Esprit Veteran Wellness Campus
Chicago'S Veteran Recreation and Resource Center

WHY WE ARE BUILDING THIS
When you leave the military, you lose more than a job. You lose your team, your routine, your sense of purpose, and the community that understood you without explanation. For too many veterans, what follows is silence. Isolation. A feeling of being surrounded by people but connected to none of them.
We know because we have been there.
The Esprit Center exists to close that gap. Not by pulling veterans into a separate world, but by building a space where they are woven back into the fabric of their own community. A place where a veteran working out next to a college student next to a neighborhood regular is just a normal Tuesday. Where connection happens naturally, not through paperwork or waiting rooms.
This is not about charity. It is about belonging.
WHAT THE CENTER WILL BE
Open to Everyone: A public fitness and recreation facility with training equipment, group classes, open gym, and community programming. This is the front door. It is open to the entire neighborhood. When veterans and civilians share the same space day after day, barriers disappear and real relationships form. That is how you end isolation. Not with a program, but with proximity.
For Veterans and Military Families: Inside the center, a private lounge inspired by the USO. A warm, comfortable space exclusively for veterans, service members, dependents, and student veterans. Somewhere to sit down, breathe, and feel understood. Our partner organizations will rotate through offering employment support, education guidance, benefits assistance, wellness services, and peer connection. No appointments necessary. Just walk in.
This is the space we wish existed when we came home.
MORE THAN A GYM
The Esprit Veteran Wellness Campus Chicago is not just a place to work out. It is a living space that serves the community in different ways depending on the day.
We plan to host monthly events and gatherings throughout the year. Some open to everyone, some just for veterans and military families. Fitness workshops, cookouts, game nights, resource fairs, leadership sessions, family days, and community conversations. The kind of stuff that gives people a reason to come back and a reason to bring someone with them.
The space will flex to meet whatever the community needs. A wellness class in the morning. Open gym in the afternoon. A veteran family dinner in the evening. One roof, many purposes, always building connection.
ONE CENTER AT A TIME
Chicago is just the beginning.
Our long-term vision is to build an Esprit Veteran Wellness Campus in every state. A nationwide network of recreation and resource centers, each one connected to local and national partners who serve transitioning service members and their families. No matter where you are stationed, no matter where you land after service, there is a place waiting for you with people who get it and resources ready to help.
One center at a time. One community at a time. Until no veteran has to figure it out alone.

WHERE WE ARE TODAY
We are in the early stages and we are being transparent about that. Right now we are focused on building the community, the partnerships, and the funding that make the first center possible. Every event we host, every sponsor who believes in us, and every person who shows up moves us forward.
We are not cutting corners and we are not rushing. Something this important deserves to be built right. And when the doors open, you will know it was worth the wait.
BE PART OF IT
The Esprit Center will not be built by one person or one donation. It will be built by a community that believes veterans deserve better than isolation and that our neighborhoods are stronger when everyone has a place to belong.
If that resonates with you, there is a role for you in this. Funding. Partnerships. Real estate. Resources. Expertise. Or simply your voice.
