Saturday, August 29, 2026 · 1824 W 47th St · Back of the Yards, Chicago
This document sets out the terms of attendance, assumption of risk, and photo release for the Back to School Community Event (the “Event”) hosted by Esprit de Corps Foundation (“EDC”). Attendance at the Event constitutes acceptance of these terms.
- 01
Free Public Event
The Back to School Community Event (the “Event”) is a free, public event open to families and community members. There is no admission fee, no ticket required, and no registration required to attend. All attendees are welcome regardless of residency, background, or affiliation.
- 02
Minor Children & Adult Supervision
An adult 18 years of age or older must accompany every minor child at all times on Event grounds. Esprit de Corps Foundation (“EDC”) is not responsible for the supervision of unaccompanied minors and reserves the right to ask any unaccompanied minor to leave the Event.
- 03
Voluntary Participation
I acknowledge that my attendance and participation at the Event is voluntary. I understand that the Event includes outdoor activities, food service, live music, and interactive stations, and that I attend at my own risk.
- 04
On-Site Vaccine Clinic
The Event includes an on-site vaccine clinic operated by the Chicago Department of Public Health (“CDPH”). Any vaccinations administered are provided by CDPH under its own consent process and CDPH policies. EDC is not the medical provider and does not administer, prescribe, or supervise the vaccinations. Attendees seeking vaccines should follow the CDPH consent, eligibility, and pre-registration process.
- 05
Assumption of Risk
I knowingly assume the general risks associated with attending a public outdoor community event, including but not limited to weather conditions, uneven surfaces, food allergens, communicable illness, and interactions with other attendees. EDC is not liable for injuries, illness, loss, or damage arising from those risks except as required by applicable law.
- 06
Personal Property
The Event does not provide storage for personal items. I am solely responsible for my personal property while attending, and EDC is not liable for loss, theft, or damage of personal property, including items left anywhere on Event grounds.
- 07
Photo, Video, & Media Release
By attending the Event, I acknowledge that EDC captures photos and video for its promotional, organizational, and grant-related purposes. I grant EDC and its representatives permission to photograph, film, record, publish, reproduce, distribute, and otherwise use my image, likeness, and voice, and those of any minor children in my custody, in any Event media, without further notice or compensation. If I do not wish to appear in Event photography, I will notify a member of the Event staff on arrival and take reasonable steps to remain outside the primary photography areas. Image-removal requests may also be submitted to media@espritdcf.org after the Event.
- 08
Community Media Uploads
If I upload photos or videos to the Back to School Community Event community gallery (or otherwise submit media to EDC): (a) I represent and warrant that I own the media or have obtained all rights and permissions necessary to submit it, including from every person identifiable in the media (and for any minor child, from that child's parent or legal guardian); (b) I grant EDC a worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable, and irrevocable license to display, host, reproduce, edit, publish, distribute, and use the media across any medium now known or later developed, including the EDC website, social channels, grant applications, and marketing, without further notice or compensation to me; (c) I release EDC from any and all claims arising from EDC's use of the media consistent with this license; and (d) I understand EDC may decline to publish, remove, or edit any submitted media in its sole discretion.
- 09
Compliance with Directions
I agree to comply with the directions of Event staff, volunteers, and venue personnel. I will report any hazard or safety concern to the nearest staff member. EDC reserves the right to ask any attendee to leave for conduct that endangers the safety or enjoyment of other attendees.
- 10
Distribution of Materials
Distribution of political, commercial, or promotional materials at the Event is not permitted unless coordinated in advance with EDC. Community-resource information distributed by confirmed partner organizations at their designated tables is permitted and expected.
- 11
Weather & Schedule Changes
The Event proceeds rain or shine. In the event of severe weather or other conditions beyond EDC’s control, EDC reserves the right to postpone, modify, relocate to the indoor space at the Event venue (1824 W 47th St), or cancel the Event. Updates will be posted on the Event page and EDC’s social channels.
- 12
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois. Any dispute arising out of attendance at the Event shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois.
- 13
Acknowledgment
By attending the Event, I acknowledge that I have read and understand these terms and agree to them on my own behalf and on behalf of any minor children in my custody.
